When professional rugby league champions Leeds Rhinos wanted to celebrate their 2015 Super League triumph there was only one venue to fit the bill – the Leeds first direct Arena.
Just wanted to say a big thank you myself and on behalf of Leeds City Council, it’s been great working with you. Could you also pass on my thanks and appreciation to Josh and the team for their hard work and professionalism. It was especially great the way they just got on with it and nothing was too much trouble. I hope we can work together again soon.Events Manager
As well as a celebration of the team’s success it was also a fitting opportunity to wish a fond farewell to three of the clubs most respected players – Kevin Sinfield, Kylie Leuluai & Jamie Peacock. This special event was organised in partnership with Leeds City Council, Leeds Rugby & Saville Audio Visual.
The decision to expand to a full scale arena event was only taken 5 days prior giving the Saville technical team a short turnaround. Always up for a challenge this didn’t stop the team pulling together a spectacular show incorporating large format projection, arena audio and special effect lighting with LED videowall.
The event was kicked off in style with a set from local rockers Pidgeon Detectives. Having worked with the band previously our Leeds tech team created a high energy rock and roll light show to accompany the performance.
With a packed audience of 4000 a large line array sound rig consisting of 58 J and V series cabinets was the order of the day delivering punchy, crystal clear audio to the whole venue.
The 9M x 5M truss-framed screen was flown centrally above a PixelMesh LED backdrop with Christie HD projection. All the HD video signals including a full 4 head HD camera shoot were mixed via a Roland V800 with special MIDI triggered motion graphic effects and Rhinos video footage played back on the PixelMesh.
