The usual format of dinner, awards presentation followed by a DJ was looking a little tired and on the back of the season’s success the club decided it was time for a change. With the club having a new owner as well, it was decided that a once in a lifetime performance with chart toppers the Pigeon Detectives would be a perfect tribute to an excellent season and to celebrate new ownership.
The event was themed with a rock n roll lighting design using our new Robe Robin and Pointe moving lights combined with generic fixtures. Four 4m vertical lighting trusses towered behind the stage, creating looks & movements for the awards ceremony, followed by dazzling rock effect lighting for the headline performance. Lighting was pre-programmed during sound checks on a Pearl Tiger to create a perfectly timed light show for the whole set list. Our new hire stock addition of 48 x LEDJ 7QS fixtures provided uplighting for the entire stage set, offset with smoke & haze to further enhance the lighting effects.
With such a prestigious headline act sound was of primary focus. Our system engineer designed the rig to the bands technical specification using our d&b Q1 Line Array system. E12 & Q7 in-fill speakers ensured even coverage throughout the room. After liaising with the band’s sound engineer, the system was plotted onto our design software along with the seating plan, to ensure maximum audio clarity at every single seat in the venue. On stage monitoring consisted of 9 x d&b M4 monitors plus additional Sennheiser IEM for the lead singer. A Midas Pro 1 digital sound console mixed FOH & stage monitor mix.
The vision setup included 2x Christie LHD700 HD projectors for two 12’ widescreens & the venues 4 in-house projectors, giving a great view of the on-stage action from any seat in the venue. A total of 7 HD camera’s were mixed via a Roland V800 HD vision mixer providing live video relay of all the stage action in between VT playback and winner and sponsor logo’s and idents.
