Delegates travelled from across the breadth of the country to hear presentations from eighteen presenters including two guest speakers BBC’s Bill Turnbull and Dr. George McGavin.
With an audience of 4000 the vision had to be BIG and crystal clear. A newly purchased 9M x 5M widescreen format projection surface was incorporated into a box truss frame and flown centrally above a 18M x 12M stage. The screen surround was internally lit with 12 colour punch LED fixtures allowing it to be branded with WI colours and augmented by eight Robe Pointe lights which provided a backdrop of coloured light beams. This understated lighting theme was reflected throughout the conference with the main requirement to be focused on a bright and evenly lit stage area for the top tables and lectern. This was especially important as the team filmed the whole proceedings.
The client had indicated that they had suffered multiple audio issues on previous events so the team set about designing a comprehensive system using 32 D&B V and Q series boxes, all aligned using proprietary design software. The resulting system provided even, crystal clear coverage across the two tiers of seating and right up to the stage. The front near field area was covered by 6 x Q7 cabinets and a total of 6 Q sub bass cabinets were located under the front stage apron. A detailed stage monitor system was also installed. This was mixed along with FOH by a Midas digital console. Sources included 14 channels of Sennheiser radio mics, VT and of course the keyboard!
Christie 20K projectors with specialist long throw lenses to cope with the 50M projection distance provided HD Projection. Four 32” LCD displays were provided as onstage “comfort” monitors for the top table and lectern.
