It all started here!
Who would have thought that a passing interest in the then new technology of photography at a small chemists shop in a northern city would have resulted in the UK’s leading audio visual technical services provider to the events industry?
With a new management team at the helm and sights firmly set on becoming a leading light in the AV world the company begins a programme of opening new centres in Liverpool, Middlesborough (now Gateshead) Hull, Leeds, Farnborough and Manchester – phew!
Unbelievably back in 1995, three years after it’s initial launch as the UK’s first commercial internet provider, Pipex was providing services to just 150 customer sites. Even more unbelievably this was over a much maligned and largely forgotten technology called “dial-up” with a (optimistic) data transfer rate of 56Kbps. Never one to miss a ground breaking technology Saville became the first AV reseller to launch a website. Twenty years later and the then cries of “it will never catch on” have long fallen silent. Oh and by the way our current data connection rate is 100GB!

Our unique Digital Event Services portfolio was born from the demands of the meetings industry for innovative and feature rich ways to raise audience engagement at conference presentations and seminars. Initially providing interactive voting and webcasting solutions the whole industry was revolutionised with the advent of the Apple iPad in 2010 followed quickly by the “smartphone” explosion. Twitter and Facebook suddenly found a new and accessible audience and events suddenly found a new voice!
Our Digital Event Services team responds to the changing conference sectors need for deeper interactive engagement with the launch of the bespoke in-house Saville IDEA platform. Designed to harness the amazing flexibility of the then recently launched Apple iPad, meetings were destined to never be the same again!
